As Production Director for Cake London, Black Pearl Director Troy Morgan designed and produced the Event Award Creative Event of the Year winning Flight BA2012 pop-up installation in a disused timber merchants building in East London.
The three-week installation was curated by Heston Blumenthal, Tracey Emin and Richard E Grant and hosted Olympic Athletes, VIP Guests and members of the public.
The main feature of the completely transformed space was a restaurant styled like the interior of a passenger jet complete with motion-graphic ‘clouds’ endlessly floating past the windows. The restaurant served a first-class menu by Heston Blumenthal.
With an art gallery bar showing the evolution of a unique aircraft ‘bird’ livery designed by an Artist under the guidance of Tracey Emin, and a cinema showing the short film ‘Boy’ by British screenwriter Prasanna Puwanarajah starring Timothy Spall, the installation was a complete sell-out and a major win for British Airways as the main event in their London Olympics activations of 2012.
